One of the great winemakers in Burgundy, Anne Gros, makes some of the most prestigious wines out of the commune of Vosne-Romanee. Because these wines are part of the upper echelon of Burgundy, they also come with a huge price tag, which can be hard to justify for most. However, there are some more reasonable bottles, like the La Fun en Bulles Cremant de Bourgogne, which, as the name states, is a fun little sparkler from Gros. Though this is less of a traditional take from Anne Gros, it's a great bottle that pulls a page out of Champagnes book made with a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Aligoté from purchased fruit. It shows excellent finesse and texture and is rather finely knit for a wine of this level. The Pinot Noir gives this a lovely richness, with the Chardonnay and Aligote giving it lovely lift and length. It has admirable attention to detail with beautiful notes of flowers, lemon, brioche, and chalky minerality. This newer cuvee from Anne Gros debuted in 2018 and is typically only available in Europe. We can't think of a better cellar saver or daily drinker for Sparkling wine. This is highly recommended, and we have low pricing on some of the only bottles for the USA right now.
