I have been drinking the wines from Frederic Esmonin over the last twenty years, and they seem to be getting better and better every vintage. The family is extremely nice as well, and on our last visit to the Domaine the mother brought out some fresh Gougeres that were the perfect wine tasting pairing! A good customer of mine sent me a bottle of this wine to taste after he had found some locally, he was blown away by it, and all I can say it’s the best version of Frederic Esmonin Gevrey Chambertin Clos Prieur I have ever tasted. Potentially with age, this could be one of the best examples ever from the village section of this vineyard. The sheer material of this wine is incredible with aromas of red, and blue fruits, minerals, game, spice, and earth with a touch of sous Bois. The palate is deep and dense with cherry, currant, blueberry fruit, a touch of earth, and spice with the structure of the wine being buried in the fruit. This wine is premier cru quality and for the price one of the best buys of this incredible red Burgundy vintage. Don’t miss it!
