2019 Domaine Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre

$34.99
2019 Domaine Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre

Always a staple for Chablis and typically our best-selling Chablis in any given year, this has been our top seller of the vintage and we are finally down to our last bottles. Such an incredible wine for the money Louis Michel has a knack for making the best values in the Region. This also has an excellent new score from William Kelley that was released last month. 2019 is a beautiful vintage here with concentrated, complex wines with fantastic acidity. It's one of the highest recommended buys for Chablis in 2019, especially at this low pricing.

See our original offer below.

Louis Michel's Montee de Tonnerre is the gem of the domaine's production and one of the sources of the highest quality values in the region. Louis Michel's portion of the vineyard was planted in 1974, giving the wine an old vine concentration and slightly richer profile, which is the perfect balance between Chablis's often lighter and high-acid style. 2019 has some of the power of the '18s but with higher acidity and a touch more classic. Louis Michel's Montee de Tonnerre is one of the best price-quality buys for this very sought-after cru and is a client and personal favorite Cuvee from this address.

Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 92+ points! "The 2019 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre opens in the glass with notes of pear, green apple, wet stones, iodine and fresh pastry. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's taut and concentrated, with bright acids and a long, saline finish. It's derived from holdings in Chapelot."

Allen Meadows 90-93 points! "An airy, expressive and beautifully layered nose speaks of smoky citrus, white flowers, iodine and shellfish. The round, seductive and vibrant medium-bodied flavors possess a succulent yet sophisticated mid-palate texture while delivering fine length on the clean, moderately dry and sneaky long finish. This too will need to add depth over time, but it has the underlying material with which to do so if allowed the chance."
