This is 100% Nerello Mascalese with an average age of 60+ from the same parcels that Frank Cornelissen sources his single vineyard crus from; Zottorinoto-Chiusa Spagnolo, Feudo di Mezzo-Porcaria, and Pontale Palino. Nerello Mascalese is what Pinot Noir is to Burgundy, it grows on Mt. Etna better than anywhere else and is fresh, highly aromatic, herbaceous, and earthy. This blend of different vineyards sites lends a complexity and shows a typicity of Mt. Etna better than the single vineyards and is almost half the price. This wine can be high toned but also dense and eluding that seems to always be shifting in the glass and is a great accompaniment to a meal that you would pair a red Burgundy with.
