 See our original offer below.

We had not tried this Bordeaux in over ten years, and we are happy to report it's even better now than we remember. Chateau Puy-Blanquet has roots back to the 19th century. It's received its first gold medal in the 1889 Paris Exposition. Today the Jacquet family owns this estate, and the vineyards and cellar are managed by Pierre Meunier, who was trained by Jean-Pierre Moueix (from Chateau Petrus fame). Now his son Christian Moueix is in charge of global distribution for Chateau Puy-Blanquet.
The Chateau Puy-Blanquet vineyard encompasses about fifty acres of vineyards that are farmed sustainably. They diligently work in the vineyard to obtain optimal physiological maturity, employing green harvesting, canopy management, and strict tirage before fermentation. This wine is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet France aged 12 months in French oak, with only a tiny portion new.
The pedigree of this wine is quite captivating for this price point and delivers incredible balance and seamless precision. One of the best sub $30 Bordeaux we have tasted all year, and it has the structure to age a decade or more if you can keep your hands off of it! See the three great reviews below for tasting notes.

Jeb Dunnuck 92-94 pts! "Deeply colored, the 2018 Château Puy-Blanquet checks in as 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from a 20-hectare parcel of clay and limestone soils. Beautifully ripe and sexy, with a massive bouquet of blackcurrants, macerated black cherries, and smoked earth, it's full-bodied, opulent, and layered on the palate, with serious fruit. This brilliant wine will be approachable in its youth yet also evolve gracefully for 15 years or more. It should also be an incredible value."

Antonio Galloni 90-93 pts! "The 2018 Puy-Blanquet is a rich, creamy and sensual wine with tremendous near and medium term appeal. In 2018, Puy-Blanquet is especially lush, almost shockingly so, for a Saint-Émilion that is usually quite classic in feel. Inky red and purplish berry fruit, spice, rose petal and mint build as this silky, pliant Saint-Émilion shows off its racy, inviting personality. Don't miss it."

James Suckling 92-93 pts! "A red with lots of richness and density and flavor. Full body, plenty of round tannins and a long and flavorful finish.
