A note about the vineyards:
“Our estate “Walnut Wash” vineyard sits in the afternoon shadows of the Mayacamas Mountains at the north end of Napa Valley in the Calistoga AVA. The site is warm and protected and features a mix of deep clay and stony soils. There are currently seven acres planted to Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho, Petite Syrah and Tempranillo. In 2014 we added four acres of Cabernet Sauvignon. Under the guidance of winemaker Christine Barbe, our vineyard is intensely farmed for low yields and high quality. The unique conditions and favorable terroir produce exceptional fruit each vintage.”
Tasting Notes:
The wine has a dark deep inky color with a highly aromatic bright nose featuring rich fruit, black cherry, strawberry, pepper and slate. The palate is rich and dense with round and balanced soft tannins, a long finish with fresh fruit. While this wine drinks beautifully now it will continue to improve over the next decade. This wine can be paired with dishes such as filet mignon, beef stews, wild game, and dark chocolate.
