NV Gatinois Champagne Grand Cru Tradition Brut 375ml (Base 2016)

$24.99
NV Gatinois Champagne Grand Cru Tradition Brut 375ml (Base 2016)
We just received our much-awaited shipment of Gattinois last week, and here is a fantastic little bottle of bubbles. Gatinois is located in Ay, with their holdings divided between 27 different parcels that are all grand cru. Louis Cheval, an ex-geologist, has been in charge of the estate since 2010 and is devoted to making the terroir speak through his Champagnes, farming every vineyard sustainably. The Brut Tradition is a blend of all 27 parcels in the Gatinois repertoire, coming to a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, 30% of which is reserve wine. The kicker here is the gorgeous dose of Ay Pinot Noir. This Cuvee spends a minimum of 24 months on the lees and sees a dosage of 7 g/l. The Gatinois Tradition is extraordinary considering the price-quality as Galloni Mentions below, and gets a big recommendation from us. It is not often that we find grand cru bubbles in half bottle, but this is an excellent choice for those looking for a more serious small bottle of Champagne.

Antonio Galloni 92 points! "The NV Brut Tradition Grand Cru is rich and ample in the glass, with the natural breadth of Pinot very much on display. The current release is based on 2016, with reserve wines from 2015 and 2014, a blend that works so well in exalting Pinot as expressed in Aÿ, where the wines are naturally generous. Plum, red cherry, spice and cedar accents all flesh out with a bit of time in the glass. A dollop of Chardonnay (10%) adds a lovely kick of freshness to balance things out. Once again, the Gatinois Brut Tradition offers exceptional quality for the money."
