NV Pascal Doquet Champagne Blanc de Blancs 1er Arpege

$49.99
NV Pascal Doquet Champagne Blanc de Blancs 1er Arpege
One of our favorite grower addresses, Doquet, bridges the gap between the grower and grande marque style of Champagne, fashioning incredible wines from extraordinary holdings. We have a few more cases of Arpege, which remains one of the best buys from Doquet. See our original offer below.

On our first trip to Champagne as EFW, this was one of the estates we visited along with JL Vernon and Franck Pascal - a productive trip and a trio whose wines we still enjoy and work with today. A decade ago, now and at the time, there were few organic growers in the region, and Pascal Doquet was not only a trailblazer but one of the most vocal terroir enthusiasts of the three. An amazing man that we considered the Zen-master, bringing a combination of focused work, intuition, and his jazzy eclectic style together. His Extra-Brut cuvée is now called ‘Arpege,’ from his premier cru holdings in Vertus and Mont Aime. Vertus is a classic chalky Cote de Blancs terroir. Simultaneously, Mont Aime is a unique location with soils of silex rock mixed in with chalk, giving a particularly defined sense of minerality and salinity. This wine has gotten better and better over the years and is now a focused, laser beam Champagne, and one of the top buys from Doquet. An old favorite, tons of quality for this easy price, and a pinpoint precise Blanc de Blancs.
