I had not tasted the wines from Trisaetum in a few years, so I was excited to sample this wine. I'm happy to report it's a stunning bottle of juice! The estates' reserve is the best fourteen-barrel blend from their three estate vineyards (Coast Range, Ribbon Ridge, Wichmann Dundee). These three vineyards are quite diverse, each adding their signature to the wine. The vines are all farmed sustainably at a minimum. Because of the raw material of the 2015 vintage, wine-maker James Frey was able to increase the percentage of whole cluster fruit in this wine, as well as the native yeasts for fermentation. The wine was aged about 12 months in French oak barrels from the forests of Nevers, Allier, Limousin, and Troncais, with a light to medium toast. The resulting wine was genuinely awesome, starting with incredible aromatics, of red cherry, pomegranate, spice box, and underbrush. The palate is super refined and elegant with red and blue fruits dominating with a soft kiss of oak, good minerality and a linger savory component on the elegant and refined finish. The wine reminded me of one of my favorite red Burgundies, Domaine Lambray Clos ds Lambray. The wine comes in at 13.7 % alcohol, which I feel is perfect, given the vintage and the wine’s raw material. This is a must-buy for the Red Burgundy and Pinot Noir lover; the only bad thing about the offer is we only have 36 bottles. Please act fast to avoid disappointment!!
Vinous (Josh Raynolds) 94 pts! Vivid red. Ripe, mineral-accented red and dark berries, incense and candied lavender on the expansive, seductively perfumed nose. Sappy, alluringly sweet and penetrating in the mouth, offering vibrant cherry, raspberry and spicecake flavors along with an exotic Asian spice nuance. Fine-grained and velvety in texture, finishing with impressive power, resonating spiciness and smooth, harmonious tannins. (Drink between 2022-2028)
