$279.99
2008 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut
2008 is one of the most significant Champagne releases of all time for Taittinger and one of the most anticipated Champagnes to be released in recent memory. 2008 is an incredible bottle that is a must-try for the Grand Marque Champagne lover. We only have a few cases left so don't miss out!
We have been awaiting the release of the 2008 Comtes from Taittinger since 2006 was released. This is the most exciting release of 2020 from any category, even more so than the 2008 Salon. Taittinger is a Champagne that has never let us down and a House that we have tasted at more times than anywhere else. The Taittinger Comtes de Champagne, as many know, is undervalued for how incredible it is, and the house hasn't got itself caught up in a price war like many of the others have. Taittinger is also the smallest production of all the Tete de Cuvee houses, and there are reports that 2008 was a small vintage for Taittinger, so supply is down. For a Champagne of this Caliber to be under the two hundred mark is unheard of. 2008 is the single most significant release from Taittinger ever, Sourcing from five grand cru villages, Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger, and, Mesnil-sur-Oger. The Comtes is the quintessence of the Cote de Blancs with unparalleled complexity, balance, depth, energy, and presence; it's a knockout. We just popped a bottle, and while young, it is showing very well and is the best 2008 we have tried straight off the release. The 2008 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne is a Legendary bottle in the making, reaching mythic levels of perfection.

Antonio Galloni 98+ points! "Taittinger’s 2008 Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne is simply breathtaking. I have tasted it many times over the years in various trial disgorgements and it has never been anything less than compelling. The final, finished wine captures all of that potential. Bright, focused and wonderfully deep, Comtes is a fabulous example of a vintage that expresses so much energy but with real fruit intensity, the signatures that distinguish it from other vintages (1996 comes to mind) that were similarly taut, but more austere in the early going. Although the 2008 impresses right out of the gate, it only really starts to open up with several hours of air. The 2008 Comtes represents the purest essence of the Côtes des Blancs in a great, historic vintage. Readers who can find the 2008 should not hesitate, as it is a truly brilliant epic Champagne that no one who loves the very best in Champagne will want to be without. "

Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 98 points! "Taittinger's 2008 Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne is being released this year, and it will be worth a special effort to track down. I wrote in August 2019 that this is the finest Comtes de Champagne since the brilliant 2002, and this tasting confirmed that. Offering up a deep and complex bouquet of citrus oil, crisp orchard fruit, warm brioche, crushed chalk, blanched almonds and smoke, it's full-bodied and incisive, with excellent concentration, racy acids and a long, searingly chalky finish. While this is already immensely impressive out of the gates, this 2008 is clearly built for the long haul, and three decades' longevity won't be a challenge."
