Our fourth offer of the wines from Chenu-Lefebvre was recommended by a respected friend who loves these wines and has tasted nearly every ex-cellar release from the Domaine. Many producers that aren't widely known tend to have hidden treasures in their cellars, like Les Moulin Aux Moines. Though the original winery isn't making wine anymore, possibly rebranding, selling holdings, or converting to a hotel of all things, the wines have been stored in the cellars unmoved since bottling. Wines from Savigny are typically more on the rustic side, which also means they are extremely long-lived and beautiful with age. These older wines still show lovely fruit with classic matured red Burgundy notes of flowers, sous bois, mushroom, and earth, with a medium body. This is a fantastic buy for a premier over 30 years of age from one of Savigny's top vineyards. These are the only bottles available in the world, and as we said before, it is uncommon to find a nicely aged premier cru for under $100. This is a lovely vintage for red Burgundy and is highly recommended for those who enjoy older Burgundy or wines in general but are typically turned away by the price tag. This is a well-balanced, textbook, aged Burgundy and is one top buys on the market right now for older red Burgundy.
