Another one of the last great 17s still available, we were able to get a few late release cases of this recently, and we have some of the only bottles in the world. One of Drouhin's top Meursault Cuvee's in 2017, this is sensational and a classic example of this vineyard. As noted below, the vines are young to old, which brings a great dynamic to this wine. Incredibly racy and mineral-driven met with beautiful orchard fruit, this is very elegantly done and just a great bottle of white burgundy. A bottle that needed some time in the cellar, its now entering a great spot for enjoyment and will continue to develop for a decade to come. Not one to miss from the '17 vintage; We might never see this bottle again, so don't miss this opportunity.
John Gilman 93 points! "The Genevrières was another wine where the grapes were picked in two tranches in 2017, as the younger vines ripened quicker than the older vines here. Consequently, the teams were out here on both August 30th and again on September 6th, to bring in each parcel at proper ripeness. The wine was still in cask at the time of my visit and showing beautifully, offering up a pure and complex bouquet of apple, passion fruit, pear, salty minerality, apple blossoms, orange zest and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and complex, with really impressive raciness and focus, a lovely core of fruit and a very long, refined and classic finish. In 2017, the Drouhins’ Genevrières was raised in twenty-five percent new oak."
Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 92-94 points! "The 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières offers up notes of crisp orchard fruit, pastry cream, white flowers and a delicate framing of new wood. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, elegant and precise, with a satiny attack, deep but open-knit core and a pure finish. It's a lovely Genevriéres in the making."
Allen Meadows 92 points! "An innately exotic nose speaks of jasmine tea and the cool essence of apple and pear compote where airy top notes of acacia blossom are present. The racy, intense and strikingly well-detailed flavors exude an abundance of minerality that adds lift to the very firm and bone dry finish. In contrast to the prior wines that could be approached on the younger side, this will be best left alone for at least 5 years and should reward 10 to 12."
