A recent arrival from Guigal, we have a limited amount of 2019 Chateau d'Ampuis in 750ml and magnums in stock. We have low pricing on the 750s and the only magnum bottles available in the USA right now. 2019 is a fantastic example of the Chateau d'Ampuis ranking among one of the best examples of all time and a not to miss wine from Guigal this vintage, especially at this great price!
The new release of Guigals Chateau d'Ampuis, 2019, is another phenomenal vintage for this top Cote-Rotie buy. While the LaLa's get all of the attention, the Chateau d'Ampuis is a fantastic wine made from some of the best sites in Cote Rotie at a fraction of the single-site bottling cost. Carrying the same quality that we expect from their best wines, the Chateau d'Ampuis sees a blend of their top seven estate vineyards, including the La Garde, Le Clos, Grande-Plantee, Pommiere, Pavillon, Le Moulin, and La Viria with vines averaging 50 years old. This blend gives Guigal's interpretation of a particular vintage, and 2019 is one of the most significant examples of this wine to date, touching perfection. A blend of mostly Syrah and a small percentage of Viognier fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and aged in new oak from Guigals own cooperage for 38 months. The Chateau d'Ampuis can be on par with the LaLa's at times, and in 2019 it gets very close to its older siblings with this classic rendition that should prove heroic with some time in the cellar. We have some of the only bottles available of this new release and at very low pricing comparatively.
Jeb Dunnuck 95-97 points! "The 2019 Côte Rôtie Château D'Ampuis is more structured and has a regal, noble feel in its tannins and overall balance. Some cassis, black raspberry, violets, and smoked game notes open up nicely with time in the glass, and this medium to full-bodied, seamless effort reminds me of the 2010. It’s going to need 4-6 years of bottle age."
Wine Advocate (Joe Czerwinski) 94-96 points! "The 2019 Cote Rotie Chateau d'Ampuis is a super example of this cuvée, which blends fruit from seven different lieux-dits (three on the Cote Blonde and four on the Cote Brune). Smoky, herbal and complex, with a solid foundation of blueberry and raspberry fruit, it's full-bodied and concentrated yet silky, elegant and long on the finish."
