Another outstanding Cote-Rotie from Jamet, take advantage of these last bottles at this pricing.

Another spectacular vintage for Jamet, who remains one of the great producers of Cote-Rotie. 2020 is another stand-out vintage for Jamet showing ripe yet very pure fruit with excellent balance, freshness, and focus, as mentioned below. While Jamet produces some single-site wines, the Cote-Rotie has long been the flagship and standard for this Domaine, perched on the plateau of Val Vallin overlooking the hills of Cote-Rotie. The Cote-Rotie from Jamet is one of the ultimate expressions for the region and truly captures the best of the vintage, and while single sites and Lieu-dits are ever-popular, they don't explain Cote-Rotie in detail as this does. Jamet sources the Syrah for this Cuvee from 20 different parcels, which are in 15 different locations and are some of the best in Cote-Rotie, including Fongeant, Côte Blonde, Landonne, Côte Rozier, Plomb, Chavaroche, Moutonnes, Lésardes, Gerine, Truchet, Leyat, Bonnivières, Côte Bodin, Tartaras, Rochins. One would be lucky to have vines in just one of these vineyards, but Jamet encompasses many outstanding vineyards in Cote-Rotie, making these wines genuinely magical. Jamet's wines see much more refinement and polish, straying away from the rusticity that often comes with the region but still showing an incredible sense of terroir, and it's truly a masterpiece. 2020 is not a vintage to miss for Jamet's Cote-Rotie, and at the moment, we have low pricing on some of the only bottles available right now.

Decanter (Matt Walls) 97 pts! "A combination of separate lieux-dits which show a classic, fresh and focused vintage, with each component reflecting its origins with great clarity. It's an aromatic style, with slight tannins and fairly low but balanced acidity. All whole-bunch fermented, matured mostly in old demi-muids. (Drink between 2027 - 2042)"

Vinous (Josh Raynolds) 97 pts! "Opaque ruby. Vibrant blackberry, cherry, incense, Moroccan spice, potpourri and smoky mineral qualities on the expansive, seductively perfumed nose. Offers vibrant black and blue fruit, spicecake, olive and floral pastille flavors that show bright detail and energetic mineral lift. The floral and spice notes recur strongly on the youthfully gripping finish, which features mounting tannins and lingering smokiness."

Jeb Dunnuck 95-97 pts! "The 2020 Côte Rôtie should be brilliant, and I was able to taste multiple barrels. This vintage was not destemmed and Jean-Paul isn’t dogmatic with stems, judging each vintage on its own and adjusting the amount of stems accordingly. The 2020 shows a ripe yet pure style across the board, with most samples being medium to full-bodied and showing plenty of oomph and structure. The stems stand out in a few of the samples, and the wines reminded me slightly of 2010. This is a powerful, structured vintage at Jamet, and readers will love to have these their cellars."

Wine Advocate (Joe Czerwinski) 93-95 pts! "I have scribbles on seven different components of the 2020 Cote Rotie in my notebook, and that is just a fraction of what lies resting in the deep Jamet cellar. To generalize and predict what wizardry Jean-Paul Jamet will conjure out of bottle is a bit of a fool's errand, but overall, I found the 2020 samples to show ripe, dark-fruit flavors balanced by graceful aromatics. Generally, the wines are medium to full-bodied, with supple, silky tannins and good freshness."
