2020 Domaine Adrien Besson Chablis Vaillons

$29.99
2020 Domaine Adrien Besson Chablis Vaillons
We have a bit more of one of our favorite premier cru Chablis for the money. The 2020 Vaillons is very complex, elegant, and refined at this price point and is a top example from Besson. With the Besson Children at the helm of the estate, the label has undergone a slight change to represent the new generation but still comes from the same great holdings. This is a rare find, a top buy for premier cru Chablis this vintage, and currently, we have the only bottles available in the USA at the lowest pricing in the world.

While these are relatively unknown in the USA, Besson has been gaining traction and is making some excellent wines in Chablis. We have only offered a few wines from Besson, but with the recent attention, and the two very motivated Besson children taking over the estate, the wines are as good as they have ever been.
Founded by Eugene Besson in 1902, a cooper by trade who started the vineyards to make wine for his family, he inspired his son Felix to purchase more land totaling nearly 8 hectares, and Besson began. Alain Besson, Grandson of Eugene, would be the most influential person in the history of the Domaine, expanding to 21 hectares and leaving the city center to build a new winery setting the course for success. Today, Alain's children, Adrien and Camille run the show, both of whom have been passionate about winemaking and farming since a young age and graduated with enology degrees as soon as possible. Vineyard work is done sustainably, adopting Burgundy's Lutte Raisonnee ideology that many follow with plowing, leaf thinning, and manual harvesting. Fruit is harvested and pressed slowly with low pressure to preserve the aromatics and freshness before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel. 5% is vinified in oak, which brings more complexity and roundness to the wine with aging on the lees for 18 months before bottling.
2020 is an excellent vintage for Chablis, and Vaillons is always one of the favorite premier crus. This is a wine with nice potential, and while there are now scores, more critics are starting to taste Besson's wines. This is currently the best buy for 2020 Premier Cru Chablis, more specifically Vaillons, and we have the only bottles available in the USA for this new release.
