We were sent a sample of Creekside a few months back by Raj Parr, and it's another beautiful bottle of Pinot Noir from Stolo Vineyards. We were able to secure a good deal on this one, and it typically sells for about twice as much. For those who need a brief refresher, the renowned Sommelier Raj Parr acquired Stolo in 2019 and became the winemaker, achieving several instant successes that our clients loved, culminating in his first solo vintage in 2021. Raj thinks that Cambria is one of the best spots in California for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and has proved with the last few releases that it is in the conversation. The creekside vineyard is a 14-acre vineyard planted in 2008 to the Rocchioli Pinot Noir Clone from the SLO Coast AVA, just three miles from the ocean, that is farmed sustainably with tight vineyard spacing to limit yields. We just tasted this yesterday, and it is downright delicious with notes of red fruits, underbrush, roses, spice box, earth, and liquid minerals. The palate is ample and lush, delivering notes of red berries with hints of spice, salinity, and dry extract. As far as domestic Pinot Noir goes for the price, we have not tasted anything close to this quality in the last couple of years. This wine showcases New World fruit in a Burgundian style, and it does so very well. Raj Parr did the elevage here, and the wine spent 11 months in French oak, of which 20% was new. As mentioned, we were able to secure a deal on this one, and typically, it goes for much more. However, we're offering it at nearly half price today, making it a fantastic way to try the wines from Stolo at a great price!
