2022 Zarate Albariño Rías Baixas Val do Salnés

$24.99
2022 Zarate Albariño Rías Baixas Val do Salnés
There is a bit more of this fantastic Albarino in stock at this friendly pricing. One of the best old-school Albarino's out there at this pricing. This is an exceptional value and one that we don't see very often, with a limited amount imported. These are our last bottles in stock, so don't miss it!

It's been a few vintages since we have carried the Zarate Albarino, and the majority of these wines are sold to restaurants only, making it a challenge to get an allocation. Zarate is one of the longest-tenured, old-school legends of the Rias Baixas. A seven-generation estate founded in 1707 that has very old vines and cold mineral-driven terroirs. It is very hard to farm naturally in this part of the world, and the domaine works in basically complete biodynamic methods. Vines are planted through massalle selection, fermentations are with indigenous yeast - they are doing all the right things, and their wines really show this commitment in both vineyard and cellar. They are powerful, discrete, high-toned, mineral-driven Albarino's that can age extremely well.
The 2022 is a gorgeous vineyard-driven Albarino with aromas of white flowers, orchard blossoms, green apples, liquid minerals, and a touch of herbs. The palate was a little closed but, with some aeration, opened up nicely with citrus, kiwi lime, and apple flavors, all bolstered by lovely acidity finishing with saline and tons of dry extract. This Albraino is outstanding, and we recommend decanting if you want to drink now or hold for a few months for all the components to come together. Gorgeous juice, an exceptional example, only 65 cases imported.
