We have another excellent back vintage buy today, this from Chateau de Sales. Château de Sales stands as the largest estate in Pomerol, spanning over 47.5 hectares. With a history dating back to the 16th century, the estate has weathered the centuries to become a stalwart in Bordeaux winemaking. With traditional winemaking methods, Château de Sales has consistently produced wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Pomerol plateau at pricing that is unbelievably reasonable. Merlot dominates the vineyard plantings, constituting around 70% of the grape varieties, followed by Cabernet Franc and a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate's wines are recognized for their approachable and fruit-forward style, often displaying a balance of elegance and structure. 1983 is an excellent vintage for Right Bank Bordeaux, especially those with a high percentage of Merlot like this one. It's a richer vintage for Bordeaux with excellent quality fruit and the basis for the best example from Chateau de Sales in the 80s. We have a limited amount in perfect condition (pictured above), and it's another ready-to-drink value with age from Bordeaux.
