Fifth Growth Bordeaux, from the Pauillac appellation, the estate spans 22 hectares and has been managed by the Borie family since 1932, known for its classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and a small amount of Cabernet Franc. The 1983 vintage, marked by a hot and dry summer, produced wines with good concentration and good aging potential, though variability in quality was noted across the region, and this example from Haut Batailley has stood the test of time. Château Haut-Batailley employs traditional winemaking techniques, with fermentation in stainless steel tanks and aging in French oak for 16-18 months.
