This is the last offering we have been able to get quantity of after selling out of our other allocations. Rolet is a producer in the Jura with minimal exposure in the USA, with more recent vintages still a challenge to find. Rolet was initially founded in the 40s by Desereie Rolet, who was later joined by his children, acquiring a few excellent holdings in Arbois and Cote du Jura along the way. Though three different families now run the Domaine, this would have been made by the Rolet old guard. Farming is of the utmost importance, and like many other top producers in the Jura, organic and sustainable farming has been a critical component of their style since the very beginning. To bottle magnums to release them later down the line shows huge confidence in the wine and the reality that these were probably very backward in their youth, requiring cellar time. We have had a great response from our other offers with clients asking if we could get more, and we recently had a friend with a great palate taste all of these new releases in France, and the 1988 was another winner. The 1988 vintage is classic for Burgundy, and this sings to the same tune, brilliantly structured with an amazing depth of fruit and still very fresh in this large format. It is another excellent buy for classic, old-world Pinot Noir without the price tag, and we have the only bottles currently available in the USA. This vintage is more limited than the others were, so please get your order in as soon as possible before they are gone!
