A recent arrival, these bottles came directly from the original cellars and are in great condition. The 1989 vintage made for some richer yet age-worthy examples, with Savigny being a great performer with some excellent cellar candidates. While many of the examples from this vintage are priced high, this one remains a value and drinks way above its price point. This is a beautiful ex-cellar gem, and we have a limited amount that has just arrived in stock.
We have a few cases of this incredible-aged Burgundy deal coming directly from the producer's cellar. With the pricing of Burgundy these days and especially on the new releases, it is nice to get something ready to drink and a price that doesn't break the bank from a great vintage. 1989 can be an excellent vintage for Red Burgundy, and these bottles of Lavieres have stood the test of time. Wines from Savigny are typically more on the rustic side, which are extremely long-lived and beautiful with age.
It's always fun to find back vintage Burgundy bottles at great pricing, and that's what we have today. Our second offer of the wines from Chenu-Lefebvre, these were recommended by a respected friend who loves these wines and has tasted nearly every ex-cellar release from the Domaine. Many producers that aren't widely known tend to have hidden treasures in their cellars, like Les Moulin Aux Moines. Though the original winery isn't making wine anymore, possibly rebranding, selling holdings, or converting to a hotel of all things, the wines have been stored in the cellars unmoved since bottling. The wine still shows lovely fruit with classic matured red Burgundy notes of sous bois, mushroom, and earth, with a medium body. It is a well-balanced, textbook-aged Burgundy that is a great deal at this pricing for a premier cru over with 30 years of age from one of Savignys top vineyards. These are some of the only bottles available in the world, and it is uncommon to find a nicely aged premier cru for under $100, let alone $80. This is an excellent vintage for red Burgundy, this is ready to drink now and is highly recommended for those who love older Burgundy or wines in general but are typically turned away by the cost.
