These are some of the best back vintage buys on the market for red Burgundy right now, and we have another ex-cellar gem from Chenu-Lefebvre today from the 1989 vintage. While we have offered some of the Savigny's before, we have never offered the AC from 1989, but seeing that we were able to taste many vintages of this wine while visiting the cellars in France, including an example from 1979 that tasted about 10 years younger than it was, its safe to say this is going to be a fantastic bottle. The 1989s we have tried from Chenu-Lefebvre have been fantastic and still show a lovely core of fruit with some mature notes and excellent underlying minerality and terroir expression. These bottles drink much younger than the label would suggest, and everything is in perfect condition, with Clément and Christophe Chenu going through and tasting every bottle individually to assess the quality and only keeping the best bottles, which sometimes results in a large portion of the stock being thrown away. With Savigny's innate rustic structure, classic winemaking from the Chenu's, and perfect storage with no flawed bottles in the cellar, this is another top buy for Red Burgundy with age at great pricing!
