1990 Le Moulin Aux Moines Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru

$69.99
1990 Le Moulin Aux Moines Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru
It's always fun to find some back vintage bottles of Burgundy at great pricing, and that's what we have today. We were turned on to these by a respected friend who recently tasted a bottle and thought it was an excellent showing of the 1990 vintage. Many producers that aren't widely known tend to have hidden treasures in their cellar, like Les Moulin Aux Moines. Though the original winery isn't making wine anymore, possibly rebranding, selling holdings, or converting to a hotel, the wines have been stored in the cellars unmoved since bottling. The wine still shows lovely fruit with classic matured red Burgundy notes of sous bois, mushroom, and earth, with a medium body. It is a well-balanced, textbook aged Burgundy that is a great deal at this pricing for a premier cru with over 30 years of age. These are some of the only bottles available in the world, and it isn't every day we can find a nicely aged premier cru for under $100. A wine from a great vintage that is ready to drink now is highly recommended for those who love older Burgundy or older wines in general but are typically turned away by the pricing.
