EFW!- Not an every day offer from us, here's a back-vintage beauty from a Loire Veteran Rene Renou. Renou was an influential wine maker and also a wine activist. Working in Bonnezeaux is famous for its for its sweet Chenin Blanc's and Rene downsized his domaine to 9 hectares so he could focus on making the best wines possible while still retaining his committee responsibilities. Rene argued that the AOC's in France were over complicated and made finding new wines very difficult for consumers. His vineyards were mostly planted on shale and flint which was always harvested by hand. The Cuvee Zenith is Renou's Tete de Cuvee; floral with candied white fruits, stone fruit, exotic citrus and smoky minerality. A very balanced and decedent wine that has all since disappeared after Rene's death in 2006. A great after dinner drink at a price nearly half of the current going rate.
