Here another excellent buy from Charles Noellat to follow up our Charmes-Chambertin offer a few weeks back. We have had great success with back vintages of Charles Noellat; even with the village level wines, they are accurate to the vintage, their terroir, and are classic examples of red Burgundy at value pricing. The Grand Crus from Charles Noellat are outstanding. Getting a bottle of Chambertin at this pricing is unheard of, and from any other producer, one would expect to pay much more. Charles Noellat purchases juice from otherwise very expensive vineyards at very low rates and finishes the wines in their own cellar. In this case, this juice was bough from Rebourseau from their centrally located parcel with vines that would have been around 30 years old. 2001 is a lovely vintage with a good sense of place, especially in Gevrey-Chambertin, also showing fairly dense fruit. This batch once again is all ex-cellar coming straight from Noellat and are drinking great, perfect for those who want to enjoy aged Burgundy without the wait. All of this, coupled with the fact that these are impossible to find, makes this another brilliant Burgundy buy.
