Bruno Michel is a small grower Champagne producer located a few kilometers south of Epernay in Pierry. Bruno works 12 hectares of organically grown Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir, he even makes his own compost from grape pumice. The limestone cellars of Bruno Michel were carved by Benedictine monks in the 18th century. The 2002 Bruno Michel Cuvee Pauline is a gorgeous bottle of Rose that was recently disgorged; a blend of 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier. Tons of fresh red berry, red currants, with a splash of blood orange, minerals, and a touch of brioche. A serious bottle of bubbles. On the palate it has impressive depth, dry extract, incredible power, yet is still elegant, and refined. This Champagne is very reminiscent of great red Burgundy with bubbles. It is a rare find to get an aged vintage grower Rose Champagne, and this is worth every penny. These bottles are coming straight from the property, and the only bottles available in the USA.
