We were able to get a few more cases of ex-Domaine bottles of the 2002 Les Picasses. An outstanding bottle from one of the top biodynamic producers in the Loire, 2002 was an excellent Loire vintage, and this is one of the best wines Breton made that year. The Domaine did all the aging for you and to get a bottle with 18 years of age on it that is still sensational is very rare. This will be the last shot for this wine, so don't miss out and see our original review below.
After our recent offer of Perrieres, we went looking for more '02 Breton and found some, but this time from a small portion of one of the most famous Lieu-Dits in Chinon. Breton is seen as one of the leading figures of natural wine and has been practicing biodynamics and organics for 30 years. This hands-on husband and wife duo and their children work to no end in the vineyards to produce some of the most expressive and unique Cabernet Francs in the Loire. These wines have incredible character, and even in 2002, these vines were old, producing a serious, structured wine. This isn't a vineyard that Breton works with anymore, for unknown reasons, possibly given or sold back to Olga Raffault, but it is one of the top vintages of this wine that ever produced. The Chinon Picasses is an incredibly complex and soil-driven wine in an excellent spot for drinking and should be as good if not better than the 02 Perriers. This is also a piece of the domaines history as they no longer bottle a Picasses anymore and is perfect for someone looking for a perfectly aged old world wine with ex-domaine providence.
