Here is a nice back vintage champagne from one of the top growers in Oger-sur-Mesnil to end the day. Pierre Moncuit produces some very impressive champagnes made in style to show off the nuances of every vintage according to how winemaker Nicole Moncuit sees it. These are ex-cellar and have been on the lees for an almost unheard of 16 years. 2004 is an excellent, balanced year, and while slightly overlooked, it is one of the great vintages of the 2000s. These are the only bottles in the USA, and even after all these years are still very close to original release pricing. The 2004 Pierre Moncuit is an excellent choice for the Champagne drinker looking for something with age but still has plenty of life left from a great vintage and producer, do not miss it!
Antonio Galloni 93 points! "The 2004 Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru has acquired lovely nuance over the last two years. Hazelnut, anise, dried pears, flowers and spices all meld together in a beautiful Blanc de Blancs that expresses the personality of Mesnil, but with the complexity that a wine can only acquire over time. The 2004 is classy and elegant from start to finish. This bottle was disgorged in November 2012. Dosage was 7 grams per liter."
