2005 Domaine Alain Michelot Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains 375 mL

Cellar Tracker Community 90.3 points (as of 6/3/19)

John Gilman 93-94 points (rated Mar/Apr 2007) - The Vaucrains is also not particularly old vines, having been replanted in stages in 1971, 1983 and 1990, but like the Les St. Georges, it shows no signs of hailing from younger vines in terms of depth or intensity. The bouquet is outstanding, as it offers up notes of red cherries, red plums, venison, dark chocolate, iodine, woodsmoke and soil. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and primary, with a great sappy core of fruit, great focus and length, and a firm, chewy and classic backend. The finish here displays flat out stunning grip, and this is clearly a classic example of Vaucrains that very much calls to mind the beautiful example of this vineyard chez Robert Chevillon. High class juice that will vie with the Les St. Georges and the Camps Perdrix for best in the cellar in this vintage. (Drink between 2017-2050)
