2016 Jean et Sebastien Dauvissat Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses

$69.99
2016 Jean et Sebastien Dauvissat Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses

One of Domaine's top wines, we were able to get a few late-release cases of this excellent back vintage. Although Jean has passed away his son, Sebastien remains at the forefront of what his father laid out. Sebastian continues to make excellent Chablis that comes in at an incredible price compared to his peers. A wine that always stands out is Les Preuses, which is the only Grand Cru Sebastien Dauvissat owns. Sourced from a less than a hectare parcel of vines around 40 years old, it is one of the most powerful wines of the Domaine with lovely richness and ripeness of fruit but not lacking in acidity and minerality. Les Preuses is only one of two wines that see barrel fermentation here, with about 25% new oak used. The quality of this wine is truly remarkable, especially when considering the price point for a bottle of Grand Cru Chablis. 2016 was a challenging yet lovely vintage, and with 8 years of age, this is showing very well now with plenty of life ahead. We have low pricing here today, and it's the best buy of the vintage for Grand Cru Chablis right now.

Vinous (Tanzer) 91-93 points! "Pale lemon-yellow. Much more closed on the nose than the old-vines Vaillons, hinting at honeysuckle. Tighter in the mouth than the Vaillons as well but still in a supple, rich style for this cuvée, with an element of sweetness nicely buffered by firm acidity. Spreads out impressively to saturate the palate on the silky finish, with piquant notes of lemon oil and ripe grapefruit lingering."
