We have special pricing on both of these bottles, which are two incredible Champagnes, and for the first time, we have been able to offer the Non-Dose rendition of this Cuvee. Two back-vintage beauties from one of the top growers in Oger-sur-Mesnil, it is always nice to get a bottle with some age on it, and these have gotten so good with time in the bottle. Pierre Moncuit produces some very impressive Champagnes that are made in style to show off the nuances of every vintage, according to winemaker Nicole Moncuit. We were able to taste with Nicole a few years ago, and the Champagnes were so precise and intricate with lovely minerality and balance. They also boasted one of the most incredible cellars for a grower-producer that we have ever seen. The Brut and the Non-Dose are the same wine, but one was given dosage, and one left natural, creating two similar but very different Champagnes. Side-by-side, the differences become evident, and the Brut shows a more grand and powerful style while the non-dose is more complex and mineral expressive. Both are absolutely gorgeous and can be enjoyed now. Two of Pierre Moncuits best Champagnes that have been hiding in their cellars for 14 years, these are fantastic buys for an ex-domaine release.
Antonio Galloni 93 pts! The 2006 Non-Dosé Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru offers a super-appealing interplay of Mesnil vibrancy and the complexity that develops with extended time on its lees, which makes for a fascinating and totally beguiling Champagne. More than anything else, the 2006 is in a gorgeous place for drinking now, as all the elements are very nicely balanced. Apricot, hazelnut, chamomile, mint, dried flowers, pastry and light tropical overtones add wonderful shades of nuance. No dosage. Disgorged: February, 2019. (Drink between 2019-2026)
