An incredible Cuvee from Charles Heidsieck and only the 7th vintage of Blanc des Millenaires to be released, 2007 is the next addition to this excellent lineage—a blend of Chardonnay from the villages of Oger, Mesnil-Sur-Oger, Avize, Cramant, and Vertus. Having tasted every vintage of Blanc des Millenaires ever made, we can say these are excellent Champagnes that do not leave the cellar until they are perfect. This Cuvee has spent an incredible time slowly aging on the, and this one spent close to 15 years before it was released. The Blanc de Millenaires, while it has gone up slightly in price, is still a tremendous buy rivaling other Blanc de Blancs at a fraction of the price. 2007 was kind of an overlooked vintage but incredible for Chardonnay, and this is one of the best examples of the vintage, and not far off from the quality of Salon for about 75% less. Charles Heidsieck has always been a relative value among Champagne's bigger houses, and the 2007 Blanc de Millienaires is an astonishing bottle. While 2007 has richness, it is not as ripe as 2006 and has a fantastic level of freshness and precision that is capable of besting some of the best examples of the vintage. We have excellent pricing on this Champagne today, and if you only buy one Champagne from the 2007 vintage, this should be it.
Decanter (Blind Panel Tasting) 96 points! "Intense aromas of candied citrus, grapefruit juice and lemon peel. Incredibly youthful for its age, with a chalky minerality and richness on the palate. A finely built 100% Chardonnay with very discreet dosage, flinty acidity and an overall balance suggestive of a grande marque. It has great sophistication and poise. Nominated by Michael Hill Smith MW (Drink between 2023-2050)"
James Suckling 96 points! "Intense oyster-shell and candied-lemon aromas pull you into this very elegant champagne, which is so precise on the sleek and focused palate with a finish of crystalline purity and brightness. Still really youthful, thanks to the uplifting freshness! A Blanc de Blancs from 5 top Crus in the Côte des Blancs. Drink or hold."
Wine Advocate 95+ points! "The 2007 Brut Blanc de Blancs Blanc des Millénaires is the seventh opus of this vintage after the 1983, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2004 and 2006 vintages. This 100% Chardonnay exhales aromas of candied lemon, lemon oil, spring flowers, ripe orchard fruits and hints of pastry. The palate is coated and fleshy, rich and dense, with racy acids and a chalky, penetrating finish. Hide bottles for seven to eight years."
