Part of the Billecart-Salmon Millesime collection, the Cuvee Louis is a tribute to Elizabeth Salmons' brother, who was instrumental in the early days of the House. Sourced from Billecart's best Grand Cru Chardonnay parcels in the Cote des Blancs, specifically in Chouilly, Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Cramant, the Cuvee Louis is an exercise in mineral purity. 2008 is a historic vintage for Champagne and is the basis for one of the best versions of this Cuvee of all time and released after aging over ten years on the lees in 2020. The Cuvee Louis sees a partial malolactic fermentation with 50% vinified in oak barrels. Incredibly elegant and mineral-driven, this has an excellent freshness of thoroughbred fruit thanks to the partial malo but with extraordinary depth and complexity from seeing a bit of oak as well as its long aging on the lees. It combines absolute power with riveting elegance, showing a creamy yet tactile mouthfeel with the complexity of spices, herbs, flowers, fruit, and chalky minerals. It is not one to pass up from Billecart, and we have a very limited amount available.

Full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's a textural, racy, penetrating wine endowed with considerable cut and concentration.
