We were able to get a few more cases of the 2008 Tete de Cuvee from Deutz. The Cuvee William is an exceptional bottle, and we recently popped the cork on one a few days ago, and it was magnificent and showing well. This and the Amour de Deutz typically need about five years in the bottle to shine, and while this is incredible now, there's no doubt it will continue to impress as it has been better and better every time we open a bottle. A few cases available at this friendly pricing, we would give this bottle a 95+.
One of the most underrated Grande Marque Champagnes Deutz has been a house that we have been following for a very long time. The Cuvee William is the Tete de Cuvee for this address and was a blend developed by William Deutz. Cuvee William has been the source for some of the most excellent older Champagnes we have tasted, including 1979, 1982, 1985, 1988, 1990, and 1996. 2008 is a magnificent vintage and will surely find its way on to that list. If the great Amour de Deutz releases were any indication of quality, the Cuvee William should be an unprecedented release from Deutz. The scores below were based on tasting out of 375ml, are very conservative, and should be better out of 750ml. Richard Juhlin states that the 750s and Magnums are indeed better, which we have experienced many times with Champagne. The 2008 Cuvee William Deutz is highly recommended and gets our pick for one of the best buys for Grande Marque Champagne.

Orange peel, candied apricot, pastry and butter notes flesh out in an expressive, layered Champagne to drink now and over the next few years. This is a distinctly rich, tropically-leaning style with considerable Pinot Noir richness. Readers who like big, ample Champagnes will find much to enjoy here. The 375ml bottles will be sold as a boxed set along with the 2008 Amour de Deutz and Amour de Deutz Rosé."

Obviously not as grand as it will be at a later launch on regular bottle or even better on magnum, but I like the initiative to give us a pretaste of great wines with little simpler faster development curve of half bottles. Creamy and soft at the moment. When the regular bottle was released 2020 we realized that it’s a completely different wine. So grand and so closely related to the legendary 1996. Perhaps an inch more opulent and lower in acidity, otherwise the same type of fantastic slow developing structure and composition."
