Here’s a fun one today and an absolute screamer of a price. Jacques Defrance’s vintage wines have been such fun bottles over the years, and it has been quite some time since our last offer from the Domaine. A small grower in the Aube district and what we consider the most beautiful village of Champagne, Les Riceys. This part of France has a diverse mix of landscapes and Les Riceys is a picturesque old town known for its famous still wine “Rosé de Riceys” which used to be a royal delicacy. This village is still home to top pedigree Pinot Noir majority fruit, as well as several great growers like Defrance and Oliver Horiot. The vintage cuvée here is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, in a dry yet textured style built on focus and minerality. An 2008 at an outstanding rate and a bottle not to be missed.
