We blew through our allocation of the 2013 vintage of this wine and are happy to report we are getting a small lot of 78 bottles of 2014. 2014 is a little more fruit-driven than 2013 is so it should make for excellent drinking over the next 2 to 3 years!
Our Original offer:
We tasted a range of Tardy wines that have been long forgotten and found this gem in the group. This is drinking very well right now and has aged rather nicely. Such an elegant and balanced vintage shines through here and is a very refined vineyard driven example for this appellation. Fixin is a village just north of Gevrey Chambertin. The Tardy's .42-hectare parcel in this vineyard of fairly old vines. Refreshing red fruits, a touch of minerality smokiness, dried rose petals, and a bit of herb on the nose while the palate retains a good core. The wine has a velvety texture with good structure to age a few more years. This wine is a $40+ per bottle in Europe, we were able to negotiate some better pricing, and at $20, it’s an absolute steal!
Vinous (Steve Tanzer) Dark medium red. Aromas of redcurrant, tobacco, mocha, and menthol are a bit lower-toned and more rustic than those of 2015. Then surprisingly supple and sweet in the mouth, offering pliant red fruit flavors. Finishes with dusty, slightly oak-influenced tannins and right length and lift. (Drink between 2017-2022)
