Estournelles St.-Jacques is located on a south eastern facing slope in the village of Gevrey Chambertin. The Vineyard is above Clos st. Jacques and Lavaux St. Jacquest and shares a border with Les Cazetiers and Poissenot, very prime real estate! The vineyard has a similar soil composition to Clos St Jacques and Lavaux St. Jacques. Jadot's 2010 Gevrey Chambertin Estournelles St.-Jacques is almost as good as Gevrey Clos St Jacques this vintage, and has some bottle age which means it can be drunk now. 2010 is a classic vintage one of of favorites of the last 30 years. This wine comes from a Jadot's domaine owned vineyard, and the bottles are coming right from Jadot's cellar so they are in perfect condition.
John Gilman 93+ points! "Like the Petite Chapelle, the 2010 Estournelles St. Jacques is extremely strong this year chez Jadot. The deep, pure and vibrant nose offers up a superb mix of cassis, dark berries, grilled meat, black minerality, espresso, mustard seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very transparent, with an excellent core, ripe tannins and great grip and energy on the long and beautifully balanced finish. A beautiful bottle of Estournelles St. Jacques that is not far off the quality of the glorious Clos St. Jacques this year."
Antionio Galloni 92-94 points! The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Estournelles Saint Jacques bursts from the glass with layers of dark fruit. Black cherries, flowers, mint and sweet spices wrap around the palate in this flashy, extroverted wine. The Estournelles Saint Jacques turns a bit more feminine in the glass, yet it remains exuberant, flashy and full of life. This isn't the last word on subtlety, but it is a delicious wine in its own way.
