2012 Henri Goutorbe Champagne Grand Cru Brut Millésimé Pre-arrival

$59.99
2012 Henri Goutorbe Champagne Grand Cru Brut Millésimé Pre-arrival
We were able to get a bit more of this fantastic buy for 2012 Champagne. This is an excellent example of the vintage and one of the very best Brut Millesimes ever from Goutorbe. Beautiful from start to finish; we recommend trying one now and tucking one away in the cellar for a bit to watch it evolve.

We have an incredible deal on this new release from Henri Goutorbe. This is excellent pricing for a vintage like 2012 and is one of the best buys right now.
As many grower Champagne fanatics are aware, Henri Goutorbe is an excellent producer from the village of Ay in the Marne Valley that got its start running a vine nursery long ago. Goutorbe makes fabulous Champagnes that feature fantastic Pinot Noir from Ay, and many of our clients have experienced the excellent quality of their lineup. The Rose has long been one of our best sellers, which is where many of us started with Goutorbe, but the other bottlings are exceptional too. Years ago, we tried some of their great library releases from the 70s and 80s that were very impressive and showed just how serious and age-worthy their Champagnes can be, and today we have their flagship bottle of Brut Millesime.
Like the 2008 from Goutorbe, the 2012 is one of the very last bottles from the 2012 vintage to be released after nearly ten years on the lees. A blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay plays to this house's generous yet energetic style with the richness and complexity developed from extra time on the lees but not without tremendous acidity that keeps everything tight and balanced. It is a Champagne that is open for business now but could spend some time in the cellar with no issue and a gorgeous display of Pinot Noir fruit. A rare find here in the USA and one of the best vintage buys for only $50, the 2012 from Goutorbe is one to consider for fans of the Grande Marque or a grower style, and at the moment, we have some of the only bottles available at this very low number.

Jeb Dunnuck (Audrey Fick) 95 points! "I really love the 2012 vintage, and the 2012 Champagne Millésime Brut is no exception. It is composed of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay all coming from their home base in the Grand cru of Ay. Aromatically, it is packed with pure red berries and orchard fruits, with shitake, brioche and wet stone. The palate floods all the way through the finish with fruit and mineral persistence. I love the balance of fruit and tertiary notes, and it is drinking so well right now out of the gate, though will be great to revisit over the coming decades."
