One of the best buys from Henriot; we are always excited for the Brut Millesime release, especially in a vintage like 2012. This is always a great buy from Henriot and personifies the incredible refinement of their house style at lower pricing than the other vintage cuvees. This version of the Brut Millesime spent 8 years on the lees and was finished with the perfect 6-gram dosage. The 2012 is a blend of 54% Chardonnay and 46% Pinot Noir from the premier and grand cru villages of Trépail, Mailly, Verzenay, Avenay in Montagne de Reims and Avize, Chouilly in Côtes des Blancs. Henriot does a terrific job with this Champagne, and it is consistently one of the best examples at this price point and is a beautiful expression of the vintage from Henriot. We have fantastic pricing on this current release from Henriot, and it is one of the best buys for Grand Marque vintage Champagne right now.
Decanter 93 points! "Two of the great grand cru villages of the Montagne de Reims (Mailly and Verzenay) contribute the majority of the powerful Pinot Noir, which at 56% of the blend, pips Chardonnay to the post, in terms of volume at least. The Chardonnay has equally impressive grand cru provenance, the villages of Avize and Chouilly lending notes of honeysuckle, lemon posset and orchard fruit. The ensemble has been dosed at just under 6g/L and is therefore labelled as Extra Brut. The texture is accordingly generous but does not lack for the rigour of a long mineral finish. Very composed. From the gold colour, the gentle honeyed seduction on the nose and all the way through to the almond and brioche finish, this is a terrific Henriot, very Henriot in style, by which one means generous, alluring and incredibly elegant, all three epithets equally relevant in the description of this terrific vintage. Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 92+ points! "With the 2012 Brut Millésimé, Henriot's positive evolution begins to become apparent. A blend of 54% Chardonnay and 46% Pinot Noir, disgorged with less than six grams per liter dosage, it offers up aromas of citrus zest, white flowers, freshly baked bread and green apple, followed by a medium-bodied, brisk and precise palate. Built around a bright spine of acidity and enlivened by a pillowy mousse, it will take on additional depth and dimension with a few years on cork."
John Gilman 92 points! "The 2012 Henriot Brut Millésime is an fine example of the vintage. It is composed from a blend of fifty-four percent chardonnay and forty-six percent pinot noir in this year, was given fully eight years aging sur latte and finished with a dosage of six grams per liter. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a classy blend of apple, fresh-baked bread, a touch of hazelnut, a fine base of soil tones, dried flowers and a gently smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is vibrant, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a lovely core, good soil undertow, pinpoint bubbles and a long, well-balanced and refined finish. This is a lovely bottle."
Burghound 92 points! "There is plenty of that toasty/yeasty character Champagne often develops along with hints of poached apple and baked apple. The delicious, round and relatively concentrated medium-bodied flavors possess good depth with a moderate supporting mousse, all wrapped in a complex and lingering finale that is moderately dry. This is a relatively accessible 2012 that is already drinking well though it could be held for another 5-ish years if you like a toastier style of vintage bubbles."
