2012 Jacques Lassaigne Champagne Clos Sainte Sophie

Emmaunel Lassaigne is one of Champagnes top growers. His Champagnes can be very hard to find in the states. His vineyards are located in Montgueux which is a continuation of the limestone from the Cote de Blanc. He farms organically, lets the grapes reach full maturity before harvesting, ferments in oak and stainless steel. The Champagnes are riddled by hand, and because he gets great physiological maturity in the vineyard, he doesn’t add any dosage. His wines have amazing focus, energy, and vibrance. Clos Sainte-Sophie is now one of his top Champagnes, and in a vintage like 2012 a must buy for the grower Champagne lover!

Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 96 pts! Notes of citrus oil and crisp yellow orchard fruit mingle with nuances of saffron, anise, dried white flowers and warm bread in a complex bouquet, introducing Lassaigne's 2012 Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Clos Sainte-Sophie, a full-bodied, layered and concentrated wine that's deep and muscular, with racy acids and a finish that's simultaneously intensely saline and searingly chalky. The 2010 was raised in the same Burgundy, Cognac and the Jura that produced the inaugural 2010 rendition.
