2012 Pol Roger Champagne Vintage Brut

$79.99
2012 Pol Roger Champagne Vintage Brut
We were able to source more of this at a very special price. There is an elegance and refinement to Pol Rogers Champagnes that have attracted many, and for how much finesse as they have, they never lack in power or precision. Pol Roger is a great Champagne house, and when taking into consideration the quality you get for the price, especially for their vintage Champagnes, they become almost unbeatable. This selection is the new release for Pol Roger and has been aging in their 33-meter-deep cellars for seven years, completely riddled by hand and disgorged just last year. The brut is a traditional house blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from 20 different Grand and Premier Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and Cote de Blancs. Each village is vinified separately and blended at the end to make the best final product. Floral, spiced, with dried fruits, and pastries, this has an excellent mousse and is Fresh, focused, complex, and rounded on the finish. A great vintage from a great producer, it’s hard to go wrong here.

Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 94+ points! "Disgorged in October 2018, the 2012 Brut Vintage offers up aromas of smoky peach, apples, pastry cream, white flowers and mandarin. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and powerful, with more volume and amplitude than its blanc de blancs counterpart, revealing racy balancing acids, an already refined mousse and the impressive concentration that typifies this low-yielding vintage. It's a classic blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay that saw seven grams per liter dosage."

Allen Meadows 93 points! "A cool, pure and distinctly airy nose is comprised by notes of green apple, spice, citrus and plenty of yeasty brioche nuances. The supporting mousse is generous and relatively fine on the wonderfully textured, rich and substantial flavors that deliver excellent complexity on the impressively long finish. This is already drinking very well though it clearly has the stuffing to age for another 10 years if a more mature fruit and flavor profile is your preference. Lovely stuff and fashioned in a full-flavored style."
