2012 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Rosé Brut

$289.99
2012 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Rosé Brut

2012 is the new release of the Comtes Rose, and it's a stunning vintage for this Tete de Cuvee Rose. As we mentioned in our last offer, Taittinger is a Champagne that we have enjoyed countless times and a House that we have tasted more than anywhere else. While the regular Comtes can be underrated, this is even more true for the Rose, and we have experienced this cuvee compete with some of the Best Roses like Cristal and Dom Perignon at a much lower price. 2012 is incredible right out of the gates, and seeing how good of a Pinot vintage it is in Champagne (70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, with 14% still red Pinot this vintage), this has all the raw materials to be great. This shows excellent richness and ripeness thanks to a terrific growing season but, at the same time, has very prominent acidity, which creates a beautiful dynamic and provides freshness and energy. This interplay marries very well with the style of Taittinger and is a classic example from this great house. While it's one that could be approached right now, it will do very well with time in the cellar. Galloni notes in his review that it is the finest Comtes Rose he has tasted in years, and if that is not an indication that this is great, we don't know what is. We have the only US bottles available of this new release, and at no upcharge over the 2011, this is clearly the one to buy.

Antonio Galloni 97 points! "The 2012 Comtes de Champagne Rosé is a total stunner. What a knockout! It is easily one of the finest Comtes Rosés I have tasted in recent years. Rich and enveloping, with tremendous depth, the 2012 has it all. Bright red-toned fruit, blood orange, white pepper, mint and slate infuse the palate with striking depth and nuance. The 2012 finishes with a classic sense of austerity. I admire its tension and overall resonance. The 2012 is a heady, exotic Champagne. I would be thrilled to own it. The blend is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, with 14% still red Pinot. Dosage is 9 grams per liter. (Drink between 2024-2042)"
