2012 Vazart-Coquart Champagne Grand Cru Grand Bouquet Blanc de Blancs Magnum

$99.99
2012 Vazart-Coquart Champagne Grand Cru Grand Bouquet Blanc de Blancs Magnum

We've have been impressed how this Champagne is developing . The first time we tried it it over a year ago it had all the elements to be great it just was a little tight and edgy. Subsequent bottles we have tasted have been more generous and yielding. Out of magnum the Vazart was stunning, more depth, intensity, with an whiplash of a finish leaving tones of dry fruits, minerals, and saline. Approachable now this will only get better with some more bottle age, and rival some of the great Champagnes of the 2012 vintage.

Our original offer:
Vazart-Coquart is in their 3rd generation of ownership. Jean-Pierre Vazart has done well with creating wines that offer a quality and affordability. He was a pioneer with the near-organic status of HVE (high level environmental controls), his estate is now converted to full organic viticulture. Fermented in stainless steel with a dosage of 6g/l. Jean Pierre likes the freshness that the stainless steel brings to this cuvee. The Grand Bouquet has a spiced and nutty nose with baked apple, honey suckle, and a flick of herbs and chalk. The palate has a youthfulness with a with a linear acidity, an energetic mousse, and a rounded richness. The finish has honey crisp apple extending to a medium length. The 2012 Grand Bouquet is drinking quite young and from the few that I’ve tried spaced apart over the last few months, even with a relatively small amount of time between each tasting, it is evident that with age the bottle is getting better and should last quite some time; polishing off some of the youthful rusticity. I’m going to tuck a few away and watch how it evolves over the coming years but even in its current juvenile state its brilliant juice.
