One of our top sellers in Champagne, the Brut Vintage from Veuve Cliquot, is an excellent buy. 2012 is the new release and 66th declared vintage from Veuve Clicquot, is set to be one of the top Champagnes that they have made, equalling exceptional bottlings like 2008. Following the path of the 2008, 2012 also has small percentage aged in wood casks which was first implemented in 2008, an excellent decision, adding an extra layer of complexity and depth. A blend of primarily Pinot Noir (51%) with Chardonnay (34%) topped off with Pinot Meunier (15%), sourced from 12 different Grand and Premier crus. It can be a toss-up when comparing the vintages, but we preferred some of the 2012s to their '08 counterparts. Seeing that 2012 is a great Pinot Noir vintage and seeing that it makes up more than half of the blend here, this is set to be an incredible bottle. Decanter gave the 2012 Veuve Cliquot Rose, which has the same blend but with still red wine for color, 96 points, indicating that the Brut Vintage should be outstanding. We've said this before, but with the growing demand for grower champagnes, big houses like Veuve Cliquot have stepped up in the vineyard and cellar to compete with the more artisanal producers. This is an excellent buy from one of the most recognizable Champagne Houses and available at very friendly pricing.
