This is another excellent 2013 release from Agrapart, this time, we have the Avizoise, which is sensational this vintage.
One of the best addresses in Avize, located in the Cote de Blanc, like many of the top winemakers in Champagne, Agrapart's real claim to fame is their extensive work in the vineyard, creating a flourishing and nourishing environment with natural and organic practices used. Vineyards are constantly maintained with plowing and compost made with local ingredients to create healthy, strong soil. Everything is done by hand in the cellar, including the riddling, never finning or filtering.
Avizoise is the purest expression of Avize and truly captures what this village is all about. Sourced from two specific parcels that are 50+ years old that share the same soil composition of deep clay topsoil over pure chalk.
Avizoise is a Champagne with gastronomic density and richness while retaining an elegant side with beautiful expression and minerality. Finished with a 5-gram per liter dosage, 2013 is a beautiful vintage for this Cuvee and one of the top examples of Avisoise. We have low pricing on this rare Cuvee today, and for followers of Agrapart, it is not a bottle to miss.
James Suckling 96 points! "This has an exceptionally detailed nose with fresh crushed stones, all shades of hazelnut, lemon blossom and grapefruit, as well as dried flowers. The palate has exceptionally fresh and piercing acidity with very fresh and frisky lemons, white nectarines and grapefruit, as well as an attractive, fresh and zesty finish. So intense. Drink or hold."

"Disgorged in May 2019 with three grams per liter dosage after tirage under natural cork, the 2013 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Avizoise is showing beautifully, unwinding in the glass with notes of citrus oil, English walnuts, crisp green apple, freshly baked bread and wet stones. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly enveloping but incisive, it's deep and concentrated, with a racy spine of acidity and a vinous but tightly wound profile. If the 2013 is a little more acid-driven than the 2012, it's also finer-boned and a touch less muscular, rendering it marginally more open out of the gates."
