As many of you have seen we have been getting some nice deals lately on some fun red Burgundies in stock. I saved this offer for last since its the highest scored of the bunch, a very classic, and serious bottle. You can't go wrong with any of our deals we have had of late, but this one looks to be the an absolute no brainer. We have about 10 cases of this one arriving next week don't miss it!
Vinous (Steve Tanzer) 92 pts! Bright, dark red, a bit less saturated than the other 2013s here (these berries are bigger, noted Tardy). Slightly reduced, rather delicate aromas of red berries. Terrific mineral energy gives definition and lift to the juicy flavors of red fruits, spices and flowers. At once intense and silky, this classy wine displays very fine Vosne-like tannins. Not a particularly broad-shouldered Nuits-Saint-Georges but conveys the vibrancy of the vintage. (Drink between 2019-2026)
Burghound 91 pts! Here the expressive and very earthy nose exhibits cool and airy aromas of pomegranate, plum and pretty floral aromas that are trimmed in notes of wood. There is a lovely minerality suffusing the punchy and delineated medium-bodied flavors that possess a firm tannic spine that shapes the complex, persistent and only mildly rustic finale where a hint of bitter cherry surfaces. Note that this attractively voluminous effort is sufficiently firm that it will need ample cellaring to resolve the underlying structure. (Drink starting 2023)
