2013 Domaine Michel Gaunoux Corton-Renardes

$99.99
2013 Domaine Michel Gaunoux Corton-Renardes

Working directly with Michel Gaunoux is one of our favorite things, especially when releasing vintage bottles from their cellars. As we have said before, and after tasting countless older bottles from Gaunoux, these are utterly classic and age-worthy wines that deliver far beyond their price-point. Today we have another opportunity that won't be around for long as grand cru Burgundy with age is seldom found under the $100 mark. 2013 from Michel Gaunoux is excellent, and the hail that hit part of the vineyards during the growing season only resulted in more concentration. The Corton Renardes is a very classic bottle that needed some time in the cellar and is starting to show very well now. These bottles are being released just for us to offer to our clients, so don't miss the chance to grab one of the last great red Burgundies with an excellent score at this pricing.

John Gilman 94+ points! "The 2013 Renardes from Domaine Gaunoux is also an excellent bottle in the making, but it is more classically reserved out of the blocks than the relatively suave Pommard premiers. The bouquet is pure and primary, delivering scents of cherries, red berries, a touch of coriander seed, roses, vinesmoke and a superb base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very promising, with an excellent core, fine focus and grip, ripe tannins and a long, nascently complex and zesty finish. Another stellar bottle in the making."
