One of our favorite addresses in Chouilly, we have been working directly with RL Legras since the beginning of Envoyer. Legras' Champagnes have been some of the most impressive buys for the category, staying at pricing that doesn't go over the top. Bottles like the '96 and '08 Saint vincent come to mind, as well as the '12 Presidence, the predecessor to this Cuvee. The 2012 Presidence has been a go-to and was initially released several years back. It has become a favorite among our clients, and we have had our fair share in 750 and magnum. We have been waiting for a new release from RL Legras for a while now, and we just received word that their 2013 rendition of the Presidence VV was ready. This is exciting because it's the first new release the House has had in many years, and while 2012 was fantastic, it is primarily considered an excellent year for Pinot Noir, whereas 2013 is all about the Chardonnay. 2013 was a challenging vintage and never warmed up thoroughly, causing some issues in the vines that lowered yields and was ultimately a long and cool growing season with the fruit seeing a long time on the vine to develop. This longer hang time is typically seen as a good thing allowing the fruit to develop complexity and depth while chasing the perfect ripeness. Ultimately Chardonnay is the star of this vintage, especially in the Cote de Blancs, which is where the village of Chouilly is located and should be an exceptional basis for this loved Cuvee.

As was the case with 2012, 2013 also sees the best and oldest vines that Legras owns, giving the Champagne unmatched expression, purity, and complexity. It is a Blanc de Blancs of finesse and freshness and carries prestige that pairs incredibly well with foods like caviar, Sushi, and lobster.
