 We found of few cases of Thibault’s top Nuits St George premier cru locally. The wines from Thibault Liger keep getting better every vintage, and 2013 is a spot-on example of this vineyard and vintage. His Nuits St George Les St George is sourced from 70-year-old vines, with 40% whole cluster fruit aged in 50% new oak for 22 months. The wine is left on the healthy lees and only racked before bottling. The outcome is one of the best examples of this vintage rivaling Henri Gouges and Robert Chevillon’s efforts.

 Vinous (Steve Tanzer) 93+ pts! Bright, dark red. Very pure but youthfully subdued aromas of raspberry and flinty minerality. Silky and fine-grained but at the same time taut, displaying terrific inner-mouth energy and floral lift. Wonderfully precise already but this is still an infant. Really echoes and rises on the aftertaste, where the very smooth tannins coat the front teeth. Very firm, even youthfully strict, but not at all dry. A potentially outstanding vintage for this bottling, from a crop level of just 15 hectoliters per hectare. (Drink between 2023-2030)
