Our last bottles on Pre-Arrival of one of the top efforts ever for Vilmarts Flagship Coeur de Cuvee. 2013 is a magnificent bottle from Vilmart with incredible layers of complexity and excellent precision and is absolutely spot on this year. It is a not to miss bottle from Vilmart and is the best showing of the Coeur de Cuvee since the 2008 vintage, which is now a $300 bottle.
The 2013 Coeur de Cuvee from Vilmart is one of the most sensational wines they have made since the outstanding 2008 vintage. The Coeur de Cuvee has been one of Vilmarts Flagship wines since the 90s, and if you could bottle the very heart of Vilmart, it would be the Coeur de Cuvee.
We have tasted almost every vintage of the Coeur de Cuvee since 1992, and it has shown us Vilmart's nack for consistency. Even in vintages that arent as praised, winemaker Laurent Champs, seems always to do the impossible and brings out the best of the vintage. The Coeur de Cuvee is a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir from 60-year-old vines from the domaines best vineyards in Rilly-la-Montagne. The Coeur de Cuvee is made from the free-run juice collected during the pre-pressing, which is considered the best and is only used for this Cuvee. This Champagne does not go through Malolactic fermentation, spending 10 months aging in barrel and then 70 more months in bottle before Vilmart released it with a dosage of 7g/l. This is the pinnacle of Vilmart's Champagne making, and we have US low pricing on this fantastic bottle. Two huge notes below praising the wonder of this Champagne Where Galloni says it's not a bottle to miss for fans of Vilmart, and we agree. The 2013 Coeur de Cuvee is sensational, one of the best examples from Vilmart, and is an exceptional Champagne that should be on everyone's radar.
Antionio Galloni 96 points! "The 2013 Brut Coeur de Cuvée is fabulous, not to mention and absolute must-buy for Vilmart fans. All of the tension of the late harvest comes through in a Champagne that dazzles with tension and energy. Bright acids drive a core of Chardonnay fruit. Citrus, white pepper, white flowers and crushed rocks abound. Readers should be in no rush to open the 2013, it"s a wine for the cellar. Disgorged: December, 2020."
Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 95 points! "Disgorged in December 2020, Vilmart's 2013 Brut Coeur de Cuvée wafts from the glass with aromas of citrus oil, freshly baked bread, crisp yellow orchard fruit, white peach and nougat. Full-bodied, deep and layered, it's a seamless, concentrated Champagne that's chiseled and complete. This is a terrific rendition of this perennially exceptional cuvée."
